My name is Katy and I am the founder of Pixiecraft. Pixiecraft specialises in hand embroidered art and homewares. I taught myself to sew in 2011 having never undertaken any needlework before, I quickly fell in love with the process but felt limited by the designs and so I began to create my own original designs. In 2012 Pixiecraft was born with a focus on intricate and inspiring pieces designed to spread joy. Over the years I have developed into creating whimsical impressions of wildlife and have brought out a range of miniature wearable embroideries. In 2016 I released the first hand embroidery kit and I am now releasing new kits and patterns regularly. The foundations of Pixiecraft have always been about creating beautiful, delicate work which is stitched completely by hand and can spread joy which stays key to the business to this day.
In 2020 following a period of illness with covid-19 and a diagnosis of Ehlers Danlos Syndome I began exploring creating art which represents varying disabilities and diversity. These pieces have become a fundamental part of the work at Pixiecraft, there is now an increased focus on creating beautiful artwork which explore diversity, representation, joy and colour. In 2021 the Pixiecraft adventure has taken a new turn and we now offer an increased range of personalised products including mixed media portraits of both yourself and your furry friends.
I also offer workshops throughout the North West. Please check our social media or join the mailing list for updates of any upcoming events and workshops. Alternatively if you would like to arrange a workshop for your own group then please contact me for more information.
Pixiecraft is very much a family affair. The two Little Pixies who are home educated are an important part of the business and can often be found helping to label boxes and apply stickers to packaging.
We have a strong social media community, particularly across Facebook and Instagram and if you join us you will get many sneak peeks behind the scenes as well as a first look at any offers, updates and giveaways.
I regularly take on commissions and collaborations, if you would like to work with me to create something unique then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
